Haven Herbs does our best to purchase herbs locally from farms we know and trust. This not only makes more potent remedies, body care, and tonics for our customers, but it stimulates the local economy, eliminates dependence on fossil fuels, and also focuses on bioregional herbalism- global capitalism has us convinced we can get anything, from anywhere, at any time with a click of the button. But it is good for us, the planet, and our communities? Not really. So reliance on what grows around us is important.
Lily, our staff formulator, is also in charge of sourcing for a reason. She works with farmers in Ohio and Appalachia to get what we need to keep making our formulas and develop new ones that our neighbors need. When we get a small quantity of an herb- especially a unique one, we include a formulation of it in our CSH (Community Supported Herbalism) or TOM (Tea of the Month) boxes. These are limited edition assortments that highlight the botanical treasures that are available in limited quantities, season by season.

Each item is fun to open and the program with each box includes information on your new herb friend (the box shown profiles Horseradish) as well as recipes. It outlines what is included with your box, where the ingredients came from, and how to use it. Enroll for one, two, three, or all four months in a given year.The Tea of the Month Club can also be bought once or as a subscription, to keep those gifts coming! Each month, we create either a pleasure tea or medicinal blend for someone to try. In addition to a delicious tisane, you'll also get a factsheet about that blend and its ingredients. Many will talk about where the herbs were grown and by whom, the medicinal properties of any of the herbs, why we blended this specific brew, and how to cold and hot infuse it.
