How is Haven Herbs different?

We are different from other companies making herbal remedies, tonics, and especially body care in lots of ways!

Sourcing:
We source from farms in West Virginia and Ohio to facilitate access to most of the botanicals we need. We avoid getting herbs from distributors as much as possible, as we want to reduce our carbon footprint.

When we use ingredients that do not come from a farm we know, we use locally sourced ingredients whenever possible, supporting the local economy through relationships with local farms and homesteads. Contact us if you would like to be a supplier!

We also source all ingredients according to a sustainability and environmental ethos: preferring minimally processed or raw ingredients, fair trade ingredients, and the like.

Dedication to the plants:
We are members of United Plant Savers and only source from folks that preserve the legacy of medicinal plants in the wild.

Production:
We create in small batches with minimal ingredients and no added shelf stabilizers and artificial preservatives. (Body care and remedies should be seen like food- buy smaller packages and use up what you have to keep it fresh. It should not sit in a medicine cabinet gathering dust for years.)

Demographics:
We are woman owned, queer owned, and unlike many fly-by-night operations making "natural"
products, a trained herbalist with decades of experience creates all our formulas.

Packaging:
We use reusable, recyclable, and compostable packaging intentionally. It's sometimes heavier in shipping, but better for you and the planet. No Plastic- as that toxifies your natural product, your body, and harms the planet.

Education:
We want to be a source of vetted herbal information as well as products. To that end, we have a podcast, a subreddit, a YouTube channel, and a whole category of Kits- where products are just the beginning (we make e-books and videos on the topic for extend the learning).

We infuse intention, compassion, and right livelihood in everything we make and do!
