Verde Tomatillo is a prolific and flavorful variety known for its round, green fruit and bright, tangy flavor. Each tomatillo grows to about 2-3 inches in diameter, encased in a papery husk that splits open as the fruit ripens. The firm, slightly tart flesh is perfect for making salsas, sauces, and green enchiladas, or for chopping fresh into salads and guacamole. Thriving in full sun and nutrient-rich, well-draining soil, Verde Tomatillo plants are vigorous and easy to grow, maturing in about 75-90 days. The plants require a second tomatillo for cross-pollination, ensuring abundant yields throughout the season. These bushy plants are highly productive, delivering a steady supply of fruit for your culinary creations. Regular harvesting when the husks are fully open ensures peak flavor and freshness. Verde Tomatillo is a must-have for home gardeners and cooks who enjoy bold, zesty flavors. Its versatility in the kitchen and ease of cultivation make it a standout choice for any vegetable garden. Add this vibrant and delicious fruit to your garden for a taste of authentic Mexican cuisine.

Tomatillo - Verde - Physalis ixocarpa

Annual Heirloom. Husked fruit 2"-3" diameter, does not keep as long as purple variety.

Did You Know? Grow tomatillos like you would tomatoes, though they do not require staking and are more resistant to pests and diseases. They are the main ingredient in salsa verde and other Mexican dishes.

Soil & Water: Tomatillos love fertile soil rich in organic matter. Add plenty of compost prior to planting. Soil pH is preferred between 5.5-7.0. Soak the soil 4-6" deep at 7-day intervals. Mulch to preserve moisture. Avoid wetting the foliage when watering.

Planting & Growing: Sow seeds in flats 6-8 weeks before the last frost and thin to 2" apart after the first true leaves appear. Before transplanting after the last frost, harden off the plants by placing them outdoors for a few hours to start, increasing the amount of time each day until they are accustomed to a full day of sunlight. Once transplanted, provide full sun, except in hot climates where some afternoon shade is recommended.

Harvesting & Storage: Harvest individual fruits when the husk begins to split or the fruit fills out the husk.

(Real) Ingredients

We use real pronounceable ingredients that are ethically sourced and high quality for your product.

We either grow or work with local growers to source for our formulas. This supports the local economy, gives us the most potent plants & reduces reliance upon fossil fuels.

We make products from herbs that will grow here over herbs from the Amazon, China, or Africa. Oftentimes, those trendy herbs are taken in an unsustainable way & local people do not have access to their native medicines any longer. Bioregional herbalism is where it's at!

Packaging

We are working to eliminate plastic from our packaging. Currently, 99% of our packaging is metal, glass, or paperboard. We are always looking for ways to eliminate microplastics from your body and the planet!

How to Use

Herbal remedies, supplements, and tonics are fundamentally different from pharmaceuticals (and we like it that way). They are designed to restore your body and its systems to homeostasis gently- working with your body.

Specifics on dosages and administration for all products are in our FAQ. Find the FAQ in the menu under the "About" Section.

We post basic dosage guidelines, but keep in mind if you have more body mass or a faster metabolism than the average bear, you may need to take a larger dose than indicated. If there are hard-and-fast limitations on how often you can take the product, it will be listed on the package. Most can be used up to six times daily without problems (but we doubt that you would need to do that).

Remember, there are no "magic bullets" in life, and any product (herbal, pharmaceutical, or otherwise) claiming 100% success without knowing you, your constitution, and your lifestyle is lying and trying to get into your wallet. Often, herbalists (and MDs) need to try several products before we find the one that works for your unique biochemistry.

Feel free to email us if the product didn't quite do the job, we can recommend another that could do the trick. We are blessed with many plants that have the same action in the body- and often it's just a matter of finding the right one for you.
